GUWAHATI: Various teacher organizations said that they would move the court of the State Government to take action against teachers not taking classes during the summer vacation. Various teacher organizations decided to take such a move.
The Secondary Department announced the summer vacation from June 25 to July 25. After that, some District Education Officers (DEOs) issued separate notices to the schools under them to take classes during the summer vacations. Such notices irked the teachers.
The teacher bodies said that since educational institutions come under the vacation departments like High Courts, the government employees get permission to remain absent from duty during vacation periods.
"We have already decided not to take classes during the summer vacation. However, a section of teachers is apprehensive of stern action from the department for not taking classes during the summer vacation. If the department takes action against us, we will have to move the court seeking justice," an office-bearer of a teacher body said.
