Teachers set deadline for Assam government to resolve their demands

GUWAHATI: The members of the Sadou Asom Apradekhrita Sikkhok-Karmachari Santha have set a deadline of July 15 for the state government to resolve their demands, and failure will lead to the taking up of protests in Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on July 30.

General Secretary of the organization, Harmohon Bora, said that the State government stopped the midday meals and free books for the venture schools of the state and demanded that they be restarted immediately. He said, "If they do not rollback these decisions by July 15, we will be forced to take our protest to Delhi on July 30. We have also started a signature campaign against the decisions of the State government from the local people in the vicinity of these schools, and we will forward a memorandum with the signatures to the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister."

He also mentioned that the organizations have discussed the matter several times with the Education Minister of Assam, but he gives only assurance and no positive steps have been taken in this direction. During the last meeting on July 5, the minister could not show any steps taken towards the solution to the problem of the teachers of the schools that were not provincialized in 2013 or 2021.
