GUWAHATI: The All Assam Primary TET Qualified Teachers' Association has termed the Assam Cabinet's latest decision to regularize the services of contractual teachers serving in schools which secure A+ grade in two successive Gunotsavs a psotive step, but said at the same time that the services of all contractual teachers of under the Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) and State Pool.

The Association's president, Trailokya Deka said on Monday that the decision to link regularization of contractual teachers' services with Gunotsav would create confusion among such teachers because contractual teachers are not solely responsible for a school's performance in Gunotsav. Citing an example, he said that out of eight-nine regular teachers of a particular school, it would not be fair to deprive one contractual of regularization of services if the school concerned fails to secure A+ grade. Deka further asked what would happen if a school does not secure A+ grade at a time when its contractual teacher is serving as Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC), Block Resource Person (BRP) or is engaged in Guntosav-related work.

He reiterated that Gunotsav should not be the sole criterion for regularization of services of contractual teachers.
