GUWAHATI: Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary said on Wednesday that one of his top priorities would be to complete the new Assembly House at the earliest.
"I visited the new Assembly House. I noticed that there are a few loopholes. Normally, the sitting arrangement in the Assembly hall is such that MLAs face towards the Speaker or the Chair but here I noticed that there is a bit of a problem with that. The VIP lounge and the officers' lounge are congested. The design of the House was approved much earlier. A lot of money has already been invested. I do not know how many changes can be done now. But I would aim to complete the House as soon as possible," Daimary told The Sentinel.
The first session of the 15th Assam Assembly (May 21-24) was held in the old Assembly House but the Vote on Account during the outgoing Sarbananda Sonowal government was held at the new Assembly House. The session was held in February this year.
