Training held on gender-based violence in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response was conducted in two batches testerday and today with Anganwadi Supervisors in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, Kamrup (M), at the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), Regional Centre, Guwahati.

The training was attended, among others, by Rubi Bhagawati Sarma, State Project Coordinator, State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW), Department of Social Welfare, Government of Assam, Debojit Borah, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), Kamrup (M) and the National and State Team of MOMENTUM MSSFPO Project.

According to a press release, the training programme was held as part of the MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics (MSSFPO) Project being implemented in Assam. The MOMENTUM MSSFPO Project aims at strengthening the referral pathway of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) cases through trainings with Frontline Workers (FLW) and Community Health Workers (CHW). The training was aimed at highlighting the role of Frontline Workers and Community Health Workers in providing the necessary support to survivors of violence. A total of 52 Anganwadi Supervisors from all 5 ICDS Project Blocks in Kamrup (M) district attended the training.
