GUWAHATI: The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) announced the commencement of the Training of Master Trainers & Assessors Programme under the PM Vishwakarma scheme at the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), in Guwahati, Assam on Wednesday. This aims to empower artisans and craftsmen community in identified trades.
The five-day residential training program will be conducted at IIE from November 15 to 19 to train 65 Master trainers from 6 different states, including Assam, Bihar, MP, West Bengal, Tripura and Odisha. This batch of master trainers includes the trades of Barber (Naai), Tailor (Darzi), Mason(Rajmistri), Carpenter (Suthar/Badhai), Fish-net Maker, Basket-maker/ Coir Weaver/ Broom Maker, Hammer and tool-kit maker and Blacksmith (Lohar).
The programme aims to equip these master trainers with modern technology skills and entrepreneurial knowledge. Participants will receive training on entrepreneurial competencies, business plan preparation, the government support ecosystem, financial literacy, digital and social media marketing, branding, and marketing.
Speaking on the occasion, Atul Tiwari, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, emphasized the critical components of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. He said, "The North Eastern and the Eastern regions are a hub of creativity and expression that reflects in the products created by the traditional artisans and craftsmen of the region. Be it woodwork or bamboo crafts, construction of traditional or modern homes or sewing garments that uphold culture, the 'Vishwakarmas' has been instrumental in preserving the rich diversity of crafts and culture in the respective states."
The training will enable the master trainers to conduct orientation sessions for program beneficiaries and aid participants in recognizing entrepreneurial qualities through behavioural exercises and real-life case studies.
As per PM Vishwakarma Guidelines that highlight the Guru - Shishya Parampara, the Master Trainers will be oriented on how to use the trade-specific equipment and tools for practical training through modern training audio-visual tools. Practical training in the usage of every tool will be provided. Post training, the candidates shall be assessed on the 40 hours of basic training being provided.
