Tree plantation drive conducted to mark World Environment Day

Trees contribute to their environment over long periods of time by providing oxygen, improving air quality, ameliorating climate change, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife.

GUWAHATI: To mark World Environment Day, EPI’s NE Regional Office, Guwahati, conducted a tree plantation drive on the campus of the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Guwahati, on Tuesday. Mukesh Thakur, Regional Incharge, inaugurated the programme by planting a sapling. He spoke about the importance of tree plantations to combat many environmental issues. Trees contribute to their environment over long periods of time by providing oxygen, improving air quality, ameliorating climate change, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. He encouraged spreading awareness about the necessity of tree plantations and providing all assistance to people in planting trees.

The programme was coordinated and facilitated by Kishor Kalita, DGM, and Shailesh Sharma, Manager-HR. Alok Shrivastava (AGM) and other senior officials and employees of EPIL took part in the programme and planted sapling trees, stated a press release.
