GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Jal Board will short commence a trial run of the South Central Guwahati Water Supply Project, which being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

According to official sources, the trial run will be undertaken in Chandmari, Milanpur, Red Cross, Amiya Nagar, Rajgarh, Pub-Sarania, Mother Teresa Road, Bhaskar Nagar, Ambikagiri Nagar, Geetanagar, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Tarun Nagar, Christian Basti, Shreenagar, RG Baruah Road and Walford areas of the city. The trial run will involve release of water in the pipelines to check the flow.

The sources asked the people not to panic in case there is any leakage of water during the trial run. Moreover, the public has been advised not to use the water released during the trial run for any purpose. Instead, people have been asked to wait till a formal notice is issued, before using water supplied under the project.
