GUWAHATI: The Coordination Committee of the Tribal Organizations of Assam (CCTOA) has welcomed the United People's Party Liberal's (UPPL) victory in the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) Election, said All Assam Tribal Sangha secretary-general Aditya Khaklari on Friday.

In a statement, Khaklari lauded the decision to make UPPL supremo Promod Boro as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the BTC.

"Promod Boro was former president of the ABSU (All Boro Students' Union) and from 2012 he was associated with the CCTOA as a convener. The CCTOA is delighted on his win in the polls," Khaklari said.

Further, he hoped that under Boro's leadership, the brotherhood of around 35 lakh people of the BTAD (Bodoland Territorial Autonomous District) will flourish.

"Under Boro's leadership, everyone will get respect and treated equally. Rights of the people will be secured. The society will be free from greed," Khaklari claimed. He also appealed to Boro to work for the development of all communities.
