GUWAHATI: Two frauds – Kaushik Hazarika and Kumar Amitabh working in Orchid Foundation Info, near Downtown in the Dispur area – were arrested on the charge of duping a person, Labonya Kumar Talukdar, of Rs 7.80 lakh in the name of admission of his son in a photography course in St Petersburg College in Russia. According to the FIR filed by Talukdar in Dispur Police Station, the duo took the amount from Talukdar with the promise of ensuring the admission of his son in a two-year photography course in St Petersburg College. The date of admission was October 13, 2018. However, the duo failed to ensure the admission of Talukdar’s son and sent him to Moscow with a three-month visa to Synergy University in Moscow only to let him know that the university has no photography course at all. The duo admitted their mistake and paid Talukdar Rs 1 lakh on August 2019 and promised him of paying the rest amount later. However, off late, they refused to pay any amount.
