GUWAHATI: In a raid near Beharbari, conducted by Special Operations Group (SOG) of East Guwahati police district under police Commissionerate, a vehicle (van) with Reg no AS12H1564 was intercepted for allegedly transporting foreign cigarettes.
The consignment included 1) Esse Black long size class A Filter cigarettes- 6 cartons each containing 50 bundles and each bundle containing 10 packets, 2) Mond Variance Blueberry menthol- 3 cartons each containing 50 bundles and each bundle containing 10 packets and 3) Dunhill Tobacco of London Limited- 1 carton containing 50 bundles and each bundle containing 10 packets.
During the search, the foreign cigarettes were duly seized by the SOG, and two persons were apprehended. The two accused persons are Ashok Mehta and Dipak Kumar Sah who hail from Manipuri Basti, Paltan Bazar. Legal actions have been taken against them for their illicit crime.
