GUWAHATI/DIMORIA: Two persons of Ambhergaon in the Jorabat area were buried alive due to landslip from the hill when they were fast asleep in the wee hours on Sunday.
The incident took place after two similar incidents of landslides claiming lives – one at Kahilipara and the other at Kharguli in the Metropolitan city recently.
The two – Mohan Ghimere and Vishal Pradhan – were buried alive when landslides occurred from the hill. The slipped lands fell on the house, broke its wall and buried them alive.
Simanta alias Amon Das took Ghimere and Pradhan to clean his house on Saturday. However, due to incessant rains the duo could not go back. They had to stay back in the house of Das for the fateful night. The debris fell over all the three, but Simanta could survive somehow.
Jorabat police and SDRF personnel went to the spot in the morning on Sunday and recovered the two bodies. The two bodies have been sent to the GMCH for post-mortem.
So far 26 people have been killed in landslides in this season in the State.
