Assembly Elections 2021: Amit Shah to visit Assam on Dec 26, likely to discuss seat-sharing formula with AGP

The Home Minister of India, Amit Shah will visit the state on December 26. He is likely to attend a few government events during his visit to Assam

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit the state on December 26. Home Minister Shah's visit is a significant one following the formation of the new Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) by the coalition of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP).

Amita Shah also congratulated BJP's new ally, UPPL, and their victory in BTC elections through a tweet.

It is expected that Home Minister Shah will attend a few government meetings during his visit to Assam. He is also likely to hold meetings with the BJP leaders of the state to discuss the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections of 2021. A few sources also revealed that Shah will also sit in an informal meeting with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), to discuss seat-sharing strategy in the upcoming assembly elections.

While Amit Shah is visiting on December 26, another key figure of BJP, Baijayant Panda has already reached Assam on Wednesday. The National Vice President, and also the in-charge of the BJP Assam unit, Panda has come to Guwahati to attend multi-party programmes.

He was welcomed in a grand manner by the party workers at the Lokpriya Gopinath Borodoloi International Airport in Guwahati.

"I have come as the BJP in-charge. I will attend several party programmes," Panda told reporters. Panda will visit the iconic temple, Kamakhya temple on Thursday. He will also attend the Krishak Samaroh, which is to be held at the Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra. Along with Panda, the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Minister of Finance, Education, Health and PWD Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma will be present.
