GUWAHATI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked all the universities and colleges to set up a ‘Selfie Point’ on their campuses to create awareness among students about India’s achievements in various domains. In this regard, the UGC had written a letter to the vice chancellors of all the universities and the principals of all colleges.

The letter stated that, “In the recent past, India has witnessed remarkable achievements across various domains. There is a unique opportunity to harness the energy and enthusiasm of the youth, moulding their minds with inspiration drawn from India’s progress in diverse fields. India is one of the youngest nations globally, and this juncture offers an opportune moment to channelize the potential of the youth. Let us celebrate and disseminate the incredible strides made by our country by establishing a ‘selfie point’ within your institution. The aim of ‘Selfie Point is to create awareness among the youth about India’s achievements in various fields, particularly the new initiatives under the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The themes for these Selfie Points encompass a broad spectrum of national initiatives such as ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ and major thrust areas of the NEP 2020.”

“The higher education institutions (HEIs) may place the selfie points set up only as per the approved designs in 3D layout at a strategic place within the campus. These selfie points will not only serve as a source of pride but also enlighten every citizen about the transformative initiatives that have propelled India’s growth on the global stage,” the letter further stated.
