Waiver of fixed power tariff charge announced by Governor of Assam

The Governor of Assam has announced one-time opportunity to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) units of the State to avail waiver of Fixed Charge amounts for the months of April, May and June 2020.

GUWAHATI: The Governor of Assam has announced one-time opportunity to Commercial and Industrial (C&I) units of the State to avail waiver of Fixed Charge amounts for the months of April, May and June 2020. However, the consumers will be eligible to avail the waiver on clearing of all outstanding electricity dues to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) for consumption of power till 28/2/2021.

The decision was taken to provide some respite to C&I units of the State from the adverse impact of lockdown in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

All regular consumers of APDCL from the following categories will be eligible for waiver of Fixed Charges for the months of April (billed in May) May (billed in June) and June (billed in July) 2020.

The consumer categories in the LT (Low Tension) category are — commercial, small industries rural, small industries urban. The categories in HT (High Tension) categories are – commercial, HT small industries up to 50 KW, HT industries-I 50 KW to 15 KW, HT industries-II above 150 KW, tea coffee & rubber.

Consumers who had already made full payments of the bills for the said periods will get the eligible amount adjusted in the next bill. However, no relaxation on surcharge due to delayed payment will be allowed.

Consumers with outstanding dues will have to make full payments of bill on consumption of energy till 28/2/2021 (i.e. Bill raised during March 2021) to be eligible for the benefits of the scheme.
