War against drugs continues: More drug peddlers arrested in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Assam Police's crusade against illegal drug trade continues. Fatasil Ambari Police, led by ACP Azara, apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 42.42 gm heroin from his possession on Sunday evening. He has been identified as Pintu Ray, son of Binud Ch Ray of Juotikushi Jyotishree Nagar Hillside.

On the other hand, on Sunday morning, Md Nur Islam (32) alias Murgisila, son of Abdul Salam, resident of Paniaghat under Dhula PS in Darrang, was apprehended by Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) at Lakhtokia near the Railway Over Bridge with 1 packet heroin weighing 15 grams. Police also recovered 8 plastic vials filled with heroin, Rs 6,000 cash, 3 mobile phones, 3 syringes and 140 empty plastic vials.

Meanwhile, the Crime Branch conducted an operation on August 27 along with Jalukbari PS near Nambari Saint Mary's School and apprehended three drug peddlers. They have been identified as Mustafa Ahmed (21), son of Riyajudin Ahmed of Hajo; Rajul Ali (28), son of Md.Raifuddin of Hajo; and Pranjal Kumar Das (35), son of Sadhin Chandra Das of Gotanagar under Jalukbari PS. Police seized 24 gm brown sugar, Rs 1,700 cash and a vehicle bearing registration number AS01 AY 5161.
