War on drugs continues in Guwahati, four arrested

The war on drugs continues in the city with the arrest of as many as four peddlers.

GUWAHATI: The war on drugs continues in the city with the arrest of as many as four peddlers.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Jalukbari Police arrested two drug peddlers after raids conducted at Gosala, Maligaon, and Bakul Path area here on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Bikash Ch. Baishya (22) from Kamrup (Rural), and Bikramjit Das (23) from Bakul Path.

The police recovered 15.290 grams of brown sugar from the accused. Four mobile phones and one Maruti Alto car (AS01-AM-0962) has also been seized from their possession. In this regard, the Jalukbari Police has registered a case (645/2021) U/S 20 (b)/27 NDPS Act1985.

In another operation, the Chandmari Police apprehended one person namely Babul Ali (34) from the Ananda Nagar area of Noonmati on Friday night. The police team recovered 76.83 grams of suspected heroin from his rented house in the area. One scooty has been seized from his possession. On Saturday evening, a youth– Ariful Ali was held with five containers of drugs from the Dhirenpara area under Fatasil Ambari Police Station.
