GUWAHATI: What has former AASU (All Assam Students' Union) general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi in mind? He's still to make his future plan public. He, however, has dropped a broad hint that he's not going to join any platform whose ideology is 'out of sync with that of the AASU'.
When asked on his future plan, Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, "It's only yesterday that I took relieve from the AASU. I'll let the people of the State know in due course of time as to what I've in mind.
"Of course, I won't join any platform whose ideology is quite out of sync with that of the AASU. Even though I've quit the AASU, the students' body continues to be at the core of my heart. Before the Duliajan general conference of the AASU, I did make it public that new blood would be given the mantle of the students' body. I've walked the talk. Let the people of the State keep tabs on my activities in the days ahead. If there's any deviation from the usual course on my part, they should point it out to me."
According to sources, the recently formed AJP (Asom Jatiya Parishad), a regional political party formed at the patronage of the AASU and the AJYCP (Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva-Chatra Parishad), is going to hold its first political convention at Sivasagar on December 16 and 17, 2020.
According to sources, Lurinjyoti Gogoi is set to join the AJP at its Sivasagar conference. As of now, the AJP is represented by its conveners' committee. From the Sivasagar convention, the AJP will come out with its central executive committee taking the mantle of the party.
