GUWAHATI: With Durga Puja festivities to begin soon, there is excitment in the air. Durga Puja committees of Guwahati are busy making final preparations. To attract devotees and pandal hoppers, the Puja committees have come up with innovative, theme-based pandals. People are excited and curious to see what attractive pandals will be built this year.
With a budget of Rs 45 lakh, the pandal of the Bishnupur Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti at Bhaskarnagar will be a replica of the Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir. The pandal of the Maligaon Rest Camp Puja will be an aquarium and the budget of the Maligaon Rest Camp Kalibari Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti is Rs 40 lakh.
The main draw of the pandal built by the Bhaskarnagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti will be the special light and sound effects. The budget of the committee this year is Rs 35 lakh. The Athgaon Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti will showcase the traditional ways and presentation of the tribal people. The budget of the committee is Rs 28 lakh.
The Geetanagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti, with a budget of Rs 28 lakh, will build a replica of a Buddhist temple in Thailand. The Santipur Sluice Gate Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti will erect a pandal in the shape of an old two-storey building. The budget of the committee is Rs 28 lakh. India made history with its Chandrayaan-3 mission when it became the first country to successfully land a spacecraft near the lunar south pole. To celebrate the success of India’s lunar mission, the theme of the Beltola Lakhimandir Durga Puja Samiti this year is Chandrayaan-3. The budget of the committee is Rs 22 lakh.
The pandal erected by the Rehabari Bilpar Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti will be studded with artificial jewels. The budget of the committee is Rs 22 lakh. The pandal erected by the Zoo Road Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti will be a replica of Kolkata’s Dakshineswar Kali Temple. The budget of the committee is Rs 20 lakh. A pandal in the shape of 65-foot Shivling has been erected at Latasil at the Guwahati Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti.
Various other Puja committees have taken up attractive themes. The budget of the Dharapur Taluk Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti is Rs 23 lakh, that of the Brihattar Narengi Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti is Rs 20 lakh, that of the Nayantara Club Puja is Rs 18 lakh, that of the VIP Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti is Rs 15 lakh, that of the Pandu Institute Colony Puja is Rs 15 lakh, that of the Dakshin Guwahati Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti is Rs 6 lakh, and the budget of the Datalpara Sarbajanin Durga Puja Udjapan Samiti is Rs 8 lakh.
