GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi greeted the women fraternity on the eve of International Women's Day.
The Governor in a statement on Sunday said, "My heartiest wishes and greetings to all the women of Assam and the nation as a whole on the occasion of International Women's Day. We should make it a point to celebrate the day towards the cause of women empowerment. Therefore, on this occasion we should take a pledge to take concerted steps for the cause of empowerment of women who constitute a substantial segment of our entire human resources". He also said that without empowering the women the society cannot progress.
He observed that an empowered India should provide opportunities to every woman to achieve her potential through education, healthcare, nutrition and employment.
Celebrations of women's day would be a fulfilling one only when women will be at par with their counterparts.
"On this occasion, I pay my reverence to every woman right from the home makers to the frontline COVID warriors and salute them for their contribution towards utilization of human resources and development of the nation", the Governor added in a press release.
