GUWAHATI: The Basistha Police on Monday arrested Lalita Doley Das in the Rina Das murder case.
Rina Das, a retired person staying in Pilingkata, was found dead in a mysterious condition in her bathroom even as the first floor of the house she was staying in was closed from outside.
Lalita is the daughter-in-law of Rina Das and the police have suspected an angle of property dispute and feud between the two for the reason of the murder.
Based on the investigation, the police arrested Lalita and produced her in front of the CJM court on Wednesday. The Court has granted her three-day police custody.
According to police, the feud between Lalita and the victim was going on for a long time due to which the former decided to take revenge. During interrogation the accused told the police officials that she and the victim were staying on separate floors due to COVID-19. The police are also grilling Lalita's husband and the victim's son Abhinandan Das and another person named Mukesh Gupta.
The police said Abhinandan was staying in Sonapur for work related purpose at the time of the incident.
