World’s longest river cruise to reach Assam today

The world's longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas will reach Dhubri on Friday and the vessel will continue its onward journey as per schedule.

GUWAHATI: The world's longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas will reach Dhubri on Friday and the vessel will continue its onward journey as per schedule.

MV Ganga Vilas, seeks to untap India's river tourism potential, was flagged off from Varanasi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 13. It will reach Dibrugarh on March 1, 2023 covering a distance of about 3200 km between NW-1 & 2 via the Indo-Bangladesh Protocol route.

MV Ganga Vilas is scheduled to travel 13 days in Assam before reaching Dibrugarh. It will reach Dhubri on Friday after covering Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Kolkata, Bangladesh.

The MV Vilas will arrive in Guwahati on February 20 afternoon. In this regard, the Kamrup (metro) Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with officials of departments concerned like SDRF, NDRF, Health, Inland Water Transport and Cultural Affairs on Thursday to discuss how the tourists of the river cruise will be greeted. The DC urgedall departments concerned to complete their work so that no loopholes remain.

MV Ganga Vilas has three decks, 18 suites on board with a capacity of 36 tourists, with all the luxury amenities. The maiden voyage has 32 tourists from Switzerland who signed up for the entire length of the journey.
