Youth beaten to death over land dispute, 12 arrested by Jalukbari police

GUWAHATI: 12 members of the Jupiter Club were arrested by the Jalukbari police after they were alleged to have been involved in beating up a youth to death over a land dispute. The youth is identified as Sudem Boro. The youth lost his life during the clashes that erupted over a land dispute at Mitha Aam Tol in the Gaushala area.

According to sources, a family member of the youth purchased a piece of land from a woman in Gaushala. The conflict broke out during the monetary transactions over the purchased land, and then the woman asked for help from the members of the Jupiter Club to sort out the conflict.

On Sunday, a clash broke out between the Jupiter Club members and Sudem Boro regarding the purchased land. Sudem Boro was injured and was rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment. Later, he was declared dead. Meanwhile, another youth identified as Babul Boro is currently undergoing treatment at the GMCH in a critical condition. A case (523/23) was registered at the Jalukbari Police Station.
