Youth development programme concludes at Gauhati University

GUWAHATI: Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development in association with Gauhati University NSS Cell organized a 5-day Orientation Programme for National Service Scheme (NSS) Programme Officers on "Youth Development" from June 7-11, 2022 on the GU campus.

Attending the inaugural function as chief guest Prof. Dwipen Bezbaruah, Dean Faculty of Science, GU said that Youth Development is a strategic approach with a focus on practices for engaging entire communities in helping all youth thrive. It builds on traditional youth service approaches by emphasizing long-term, systemic strategies for cultivating qualities and traits desirable in young people through the creation of environments that support their developmental needs and capacities.

Dipak Kumar, Regional Director, NSS, NER, Guwahati highlighted many specific areas of Youth Development and also spoke about NSS activities to be carried out in their colleges. Dr Kottu Sekhar, Head, RGNIYD, NER Centre spoke to the participants about the concept and definition of youth with special reference to Indian youth and also about the philosophy of NSS, a press release said.
