Covid-19: More 'micro containment' zone areas declared in East Khasi Hills

Shillong: War Nongbri, the District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, has declared several areas in her district as "micro containment areas" to arrest the spread of the infectious COVID-19 disease and test the contacts of the people who have tested positive.

After the detection of positive COVID-19 cases/high-risk contacts, Nongbriohas declared the compound of Tamal Bhattacherjee, Rilbong (near Beat House), house of Wilson Kharkrang at Wahkdait, Malki, and the house of Samuel Lalremkime at Risa Colony as micro containment areas. This order was imposed on September 28 after the detection of COVID-19 cases in these respective houses.

Nongbri, via an order issued on September 28, 2020, has lifted the containment order which was earlier imposed in Lumpyllon, Lower Mawprem, Shillong after detection of COVID cases.

Nongbri said that the lifting of the order was based on the report of the Incident Commander and the Medical Officer in charge of Zone-IV that the active house to house (H-T-H) search for persons with symptoms and contact tracing of the high risk and low-risk contacts have been completed from MUDA Housing Complex and Field Residency Inn in the West up to the house of Robina Thangkhiew bounded by Municipal drain in the East, and from the house of Imosila Sohtun and Daphi Marbaniang in the North up to the house of Rosa Kharbamon and Darisha Kharbamon in the South, bounded by Municipal drain.

Additionally, the district administration has also lifted the containment order from the building and compound of Santina Kharkongor at Madanrting, Block F.
