Shillong: Mae Mae Meaidaibahun Majaw, a ten-year-old girl from Shillong has been selected to present her innovations to the Silicon Valley team. Majaw has recently developed an anti-bullying app and is among the 26 bright young minds across the globe to present their innovations.

EdTech start-up and WhiteHat Jr that teaches coding to young kids, crafted the Silicon Valley programme to make industry veterans accessible to the kids and help them realise that nothing is out of their limits.

The 26 kids were shortlisted from an exhaustive list of more than 7,000 entries from across the world. 22 out of 26 children selected are from India, and the remaining four are from the United States of America.

Majaw was bullied in her school from Nursery to Class 2, which left a deep impression on her, which led her to build an app to expose the bullies in school. She realised that the best way to deal with bullies in a school is to report it to the authority. However, it is stressful, and mostly, there is no redressal even after one pulls up their courage to speak about it.

Majaw's app allows children to report about bullying in a quick and standardised way. Once a child logs in to the app, they can anonymously share details of the incident including the name of the bully and give a detailed explanation as to how they were mistreated. This will further notify their parents and teachers, encouraging them to take action against the bully.

The founder and CEO of WhiteHat Jr, Karan Bajaj said, "The concept of getting these bright kids to interact with thought leaders was to reduce these conditional barriers that we have placed on our kids. When kids are equipped with the right set of tools to learn in environments that don't restrict their creativity, the results are always astonishing."
