GUWAHATI, Nov 5: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), as ever, today remembered Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in its own way.
At nine in the morning, leaders of the students’ body, including president Dipangka Kumar th, general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi and chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharyya paid tribute at the life-size statue of the balladeer at Dighalipukhuripar in the city. Around 500 other people were seen to have paid tribute to the maestro there.
In the evening, the students’ body lighted over 10,000 chakis (earthen lamps) around Dighalipukhuri as a mark of honour to Dr. Hazarika. Peo from all walks of life came and lighted chakis there. A motorboat steered by a man was seen in the middle of the pond to fuel the chakis.
