GUWAHATI, Sept 2: The BJP Assam Pradesh has expressed surprise at a large number of Congress leaders still holding the posts of chairpersons in various corporations, boards and development councils in the State. The State has as many as 43 corporations and boards, besides 29 development councils. Talking to The Sentinel today, BJP’s State Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal said: “The State is yet to be made free from Congress. Still now a number of Congress leaders have been holding the posts of chairpersons and MDs of various corporations, boards and development councils in the State. The Congress leaders have been holding the posts shamelessly even as the people of the State rejected them in the 2016 Assembly elections. However, we can’t sit idle when the corrupt Congress leaders continue to hold such important posts in the State. If need be, we’ve to be active to remove them.” Aowal said that there had been rampant corruption in the corporations, boards and development councils during the Congress rule in the State.
