GUWAHATI, Sept 19: Union Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday said that the research infrastructure of Northeast is now being updated by empowering the educatiol institutes of the region to transform it into a centre of research and development.
Iugurating the North East region's fastest Supercomputer Param-Ishan at IIT Guwahati today, Javadekar said that research and innovation are the results of powerful ideas and are essential for tion's development but lack of such infrastructure has compelled students and scholars to shift to other countries.

Pointing out the fact that India is a big tion with challenges, Javadekar hoped that merging of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DEC) and IIT for the innovation of Param-Ishan will boost the users and the communities in a big way.
"The innovation of Param-Ishan will not only curve ways for supercomputing research in North-eastern region but will also open up new directions and platforms to directly impacting the common man in a positive way as this new platform for research will help in a big way from weather forecasting to bioinformatics", Director General Centre for Development of Advanced Computing(C-DAC) professor RajatMoo said.
