GUWAHATI: Government of Assam has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday with State Bank of India for extending credit facilities to the permanent employees of Assam Government to construct/purchase a house or flat. This is a unique scheme prevails only in the State of Assam. The name of the scheme is "Apon Ghar". The prospective buyer may avail loan upto Rs.15 lakh for which Government of Assam will bear 1% interest subsidy. No processing fee, no Title Verification report, no valuation of the property is required. An employee from 21-55 years of age may avail the loan. Maximum age for liquidation of the loan will be 70 years. For joint borrowers, where both are permanent State government employees may avail loan up to Rs.30 lakh with 1% interest subsidy. The scheme is valid upto March 31, 2022. All SBI Branches are eligible to sanction the loan, stated a press release.
