GUWAHATI: The Financial Literacy Week (FLW) 2020 was inaugurated in the Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati recently by the Regional Director of RBI for North Eastern Region, Manoranjan Dash in the presence of bankers, CGM, NABARD, and State Government officials such as Deputy Secretary, Finance, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, officials from MSME-DI, SIDBI and Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission. Dash stated that the MSMEs play a significant role in economic development, in terms of their contribution to employment generation, innovation, exports, and inclusive growth. With a vast network of about 6.34 crore enterprises, the sector contributes about 45 percent to manufacturing output, more than 40 percent of exports, over 28 percent of the GDP while creating employment for about 11 crore people, he stated. In connection with the FLW, RBI Guwahati, had organized a Town Hall meeting on MSME in Haflong, Dima Hasao district. Further, special literacy camps for micro and small entrepreneurs in MSME clusters were conducted by RBI Guwahati during the FLW, stated a release.
