Tata Group Will Make Air India World-Class, Says Chairman N Chandrasekaran

He further said that it would be an organizational redesign in the interest of the airline and would require "massive changes, potentially the biggest changes."

New Delhi: Tata group will make Air India financially strong, improve aircraft, bring new fleets and make it one of the world's largest airlines, said Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran.

He said this while addressing the employees on Wednesday and added, '' Will make the most advanced airline in terms of technology''.

He further said that it would be an organizational redesign in the interest of the airline and would require "massive changes, potentially the biggest changes."

He also apprised that the airline will expand its domestic and international reach, adding, ''Our intention is to connect India with every part of the world.''

He said that the company has got the opportunity to represent the hopes of 130 crore Indians.

''We are already involved in the lives of 600 million Indians through our various brands including Taj Hotels, Tanishq, Tata Salt and Jaguar Land Rover,'' he added.

Chandrasekaran also identified four key areas on which the new Air India management would focus. These include providing best-in-class customer service, making it the world's most technologically advanced airline, and improving and modernizing fleet and hospitality.

"We will upgrade our fleet. We will modernize our fleet. We will bring new aircraft in the fleet, we will increase our reach," he said this while commenting on modernization of the fleet.

"We will not only increase the number of aircraft which will be of smaller and bigger sizes, but we will also fly to many places," he said.

He further informed that they have a lot of work to do in terms of fleet and while consulting with the management team, the commercial director and the engineering leadership, we knew that we had to work towards it.

''We will solve it as soon as possible. We will work on this rapidly in the coming months," he avowed.

The workforce of Air India, Air India Express and AI-SATS is around 15,000. Of these, Air India has 12,000 employees, of which 8,000 are permanent.
