Vision Syndrome

For the corona pandemic and nationwide lock down, study from home through online classes is considered as the best option for students. But long time use of computers or mobile phones for online classes may be harmful to the students. In this regard, Dr. Himani Narula Khanna, a developmental and behavioural paediatrician and Director of 'Sontinua Kids' of Gurgaon says, "Spending too much time in computers or phone screens can lead to watering and drying of eyes and headaches. It can affect our sleep cycle too." The 'American Academy of Paediatrics' recommends zero screen time till a child is two years old. From 2-6 years, they recommend only one hour of interactive screen time. As per the medical experts, continuous use of computers or mobile phones can lead to 'Computer Vision Syndrome' (CVC). The symptoms of the CVC are - eye strain, tired and irritated eyes, dry and red eyes, blurred and double vision, headaches, neck and shoulder pain. Therefore, parents must look into the matter seriously and always remember that extra long hours in front of computers or mobile screens can affect the eyesight of children badly, if not takes care of the early stages.
