Erring police officers

On one hand, the government is imposing lockdown in Guwahati to arrest the alarming trend of spread of COVID-19

On one hand, the government is imposing lockdown in Guwahati to arrest the alarming trend of spread of COVID-19 and one of government's pivot machineries (police) is breaking (violating) the rules of lockdown with impunity on the other hand. A section of top police officials attended a birthday party at a floating (T.F. Damodar) ship on the Brahmaputra near Fancy Bazar. The video of the party went viral in the internet and the Chief Minister took a serious view of the scenario showing the officials drinking wine. Atrocity perpetrated by some policemen during last lockdowns on the common men already attracted ire from many conscious citizens. Now some of these police persons' preposterous act of violating norms of lockdown in a brazen way earned these police persons notoriety besides tarnishing the image of the Home department, a portfolio held by the Chief Minister who ordered to take appropriate action against all these top police officials. Including two officers-in-charge of Panbazar and Paltan Bazar police stations all these erring officials received punishment transfer order and apart from transfer order these officers would face departmental inquiry. It seems, these custodians of law and order whenever chance came they inculcate in us the lesson of discipline. The owner of the floating restaurant too should not be spared.
