Use public toilet!

If, I remember correctly, it dates back to 6 or 7 years, when the State government had announced to construct 500 public toilets for the convenience of citizens of Guwahati. However, as reported in media recently, Guwahati city has only 10 functional toilets against a population of 9.5 lakh, as per 2011 census. It is for sure that the population of Guwahati has risen considerably in last 10 years. Existence of only 10 public toilets in Guwahati city has put GMC extremely in bad light. And the paradox was that, in the past, we had found some hoardings in the city, urging the citizen to use toilets. This is laughable! Obviously, this is the real picture of development of the State.

By now we come to know, what GMC/GMDA is up-to? What else they can do, when they have no capacity to maintain the Bahini drain, which is flowing along the heart of the city. We have been witnessing the working culture of GMC/GMDA for last 10/11 years. Less said is better. No rocket science is required to maintain a drain. Lack of will and honesty are root causes of all the malaise.
