Role of an MLA

Through your esteemed daily, first of all, I would like to thanks the people of Sivasagar for choosing Akhil Gogoi as their representative to the Assembly. I would also like to raise questions to the knowledgeable and honoured people of Sivasagar to ask Akhil Gogoi that whether he supports those who encroached upon Kaziranga. Also, ask him whether he is handing in gloves with the AIUDF in the recent mudslinging of taking Rs 10 crore in public glare. I don't have any anguish for the people of Sivasagar. I know Lachit Barpukhan, the Veer Senapati of Ahom Kingdom, fought with the outsiders to throw them out. On the contrary, Akhil Gogoi fought for the encroachers.

Afghanistan

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my disbelief towards a letter to the editor titled "Taliban," which was published in this column on 20 August.

A report by the 'Tehran Times' had a horrifying clip of two men who could be seen falling to their deaths from the wheels of an American military aircraft taking off from Afghanistan.

I wondered what made those two men take such an extreme step. What made them climb up the wheels of an aircraft to flee the country?

We, the world unanimously failed Afghanistan and I think the world must help the people of Afghanistan in any way they can. To refuse refuge to the people who fled their own country to survive would be inhumane.

World Photography Day

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to tell people about the history of World Photography Day. World Photography Day is celebrated every year on the 19th of August. This occasion brings together people who are passionate about photography, no matter if they are trained or untrained photographers, and also helps in telling people the various aspects and importance of this art form. Photography has always been more than a process of projecting images on a screen. It captures motions, it captures memories. Photography shows people the things that they may not see normally. Photography teaches; photography helps in spreading awareness regarding various issues of our society. The first known permanent photograph of any object was taken by Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1825. He had used a portable camera obscura that used heliography to take the picture. He named the photograph "View from the Window at Le Gras." Mr Niepce teamed up with Louis Daguerre in 1837 and made the Daguerreotype camera, which later laid the foundation of camera developments and photographic treatments. On the 19th of August, 1839, the French Government purchased the patent to the daguerreotype camera and made it free to use for the entire world. This is why World Photography Day began to be celebrated worldwide on the 19th of August every year.

Covid test for

APSC CCE

The APSC has declared that candidates appearing for CCE Prelims will have to furnish a Covid-19 negative test report, else they won't be able to sit in the examination. I want to highlight the issue that from September 1 onwards, schools and colleges will open. Moreover, various competitive examinations like IBPS, RRB, SBI etc are being held without asking for a Covid test report. "So, we do not think there will be any necessity to do the Covid-19 test before the exam. This will only create unnecessary panic among the candidates. "Further, the APSC can also exempt candidates from doing the Covid-19 test who have already taken two doses of vaccine.

Separate kitchens

in hotels

Vegetarianism is spreading fast with many hotels and restaurants becoming popular for being exclusive vegetarian. Vegetarianism is becoming popular even in advanced countries. The time has come when the Central government should order that hotels, restaurants and eateries may have separate kitchens and kitchen-wares to cook non-vegetarian food. A system so adopted should be displayed prominently inside and outside such hotels, restaurants and eateries have adopted the practice of having separate kitchens and kitchen-wares to cook non-vegetarian food. Rather such display will increase their business because nowadays, especially after corona-pandemic, vegetarian people are avoiding taking food at places where non-vegetarian food is also cooked.
