Adil Hussian to Play Doctor in Renowned Sequel of Iconic Assamese Film 'Dr. Bezbaruah'

GUWAHATI: Renowned actor from Assam of international repute, Adil Hussain will play the role of a doctor in a sequel to the well-cherished Assamese film Dr. Bezbaruah.

Dr. Bezbaruah' (1969), directed by filmmaker Brajen Barua, was released 50 years ago.

Assam's screenwriter-playwright-lyricist Rajdweep, who was recently awarded by a jury that included Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani, gets ready to come up with a sequel to this iconic Assamese film as a screenwriter.

'Dr. Bezbarua 2' is Rajdweep's fourth Assamese film as a screenwriter.

According to a media report, Assam's veteran actor Nipon Goswami, who played the role of the protagonist (doctor) in the original film, will be directing 'Dr. Bezbaruah 2' and will also play a key role in the film.

It has been reported that actor Goswami's son Siddhartha Nipon Goswami is also among the cast.

"Actually, the makers approached me first, and then we had a couple of meetings over the point that whether we should go for a remake or a sequel. So we started with the old story first and tried to re-work on it," the report quoted Rajdweep as saying,

"But after some point, we all came to a point that we should think of a fresh story, of course connecting with the old one. Thus, I started working on the story of this sequel," he added.

'Dr. Bezbarua 2' is Rajdweep's fourth Assamese film as a screenwriter after films like 'Khel the game' (2016), 'Rum Vodka Whisky' (2018), 'Pratighaat' (2019). Now Rajdweep also has been eyeing for his Bollywood film to be announced shortly.
