New York: American rapper Kanye West, 43, went viral on Wednesday, Sept 16, after posting a video on Twitter that appeared to show him peeing on one of his 21 Grammys. West uploaded the short snippet after going on a rant on music ownership and recording contracts.

"Trust me ... I WONT STOP," West wrote alongside the short clip, which has been viewed over 2 million times, with over 6 lakh 'likes' and 1 lakh retweets on the micro-blogging platform.

Kanye, however, has faced some flak from his followers for the shocking act, with many slamming for his frequent outburst on social media.

Recently, West has criticized the music industry, which he has termed as "modern day slave ships." He also tweeted about artists needing to own their work, stating that "in the streaming world, master ownership is everything."

Kanye West has also opined that this is especially important amid the coronavirus pandemic, when income generated from live shows has dried up significantly.

West also condemned music contracts in a series of tweets, stating that without the masters "you can't do anything with your own music."

"We've gotten comfortable with not having what we deserve ... they allow us to have a little money from touring get some gold chains some alcohol some girls and fake numbers that feed our egos ... but we don't own our masters. We our [sic] supporting other people's kids ... " he added.

Kanye West then claimed he's "the only person who can speak on this because" he "made multi-billions outside of music", going on to say that he is going to change that.

"We sat back and watched Nick Cannon get canceled and we go to play ball with Black Lives Matter on our backs … brothers let's stand together for real … there is no NBA or music industry without Black people … fair contracts matter … ownership matters," 'Ye' said in another tweet.

In addition, he alleged that Universal Music Group won't tell him how much his masters cost.

"I AM ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS PEOPLE ON THE PLANET AND UNIVERSAL WONT TELL ME WHAT MY MASTERS COST BECAUSE THEY KNOW I CAN AFFORD THEM ... BLACK MASTERS MATTER," West said.

In addition, he called on other artists to show their support for this new 'movement'. West also wrote in a since-deleted tweet on Monday that he's not putting no more music out until he's done with his contracts with Sony and Universal.

From tweeting about his famous family to his political aspirations, West reserves only his most candid takes for his 30 million-plus Twitter followers. The American hip-hop star has also expressed that he has hopes of running for President. West, however, has also expressed his support for the incumbent President Donald Trump, even going so far as to don a MAGA (Make America Great Again) hat.
