Assamese Film 'Bidurbhai' Sets New Record with Rs 1.24 Crore Opening Weekend Collection

GUWAHATI: The new Assamese film “Bidurbhai” has made a significant impact on Assamese cinema, earning Rs 1.24 crore in just its first three days. Since its release on July 19, the film has been very well received by audiences throughout the state.

During its opening weekend, “Bidurbhai” was shown in 179 theaters across Assam, with almost all the shows selling out immediately. The strong demand was clear when advance ticket bookings started three days before the release, leading to most shows being sold out almost right away.

Directed by Subrata Kakati and produced by Rootstock Entertainments, “Bidurbhai” boasts an impressive cast including Sumki Kachari, Bolin Bora, Ujjwal Rajkhowa, Trilokya Baruah, Neetu Khanikar, Pankaj Mahanta, Aseem Sharma, Snigdha Phukan, Sharmistha Das, Prasthan Bora, Hirakjyoti Bordoloi, Anand Barua, Asif Javed, and Dwipmani Khatniar.

The film's music, composed by Pranay Dutt, and sound design by Souvik Phukan, have been praised, while Bitul Das handled the cinematography and Arnab Hazarika led the production.

The buzz for “Bidurbhai” had been growing since the release of its previous web series with the same name. The excitement reached new heights when the film's poster was released, and the record-breaking box office numbers show just how eager people were to see it.

With such a remarkable start, “Bidurbhai” has set a new benchmark in Assamese cinema and continues to attract large audiences, making a significant mark in the regional film industry’s history.

Produced by Arnab Hazarika under Rootstock Entertainment, “Bidurbhai” boasts a diverse cast that includes Chumki Kachari, Pankaj Mahanta, Ashim Sharma, Neetu Khanikar, and others. The story, written by Suvrat Kakati and Jyotisman Chetia, is brought to life by a skilled team.

At the premiere events in Guwahati and Golaghat, director Suvrat Kakati conveyed his enthusiasm about ‘Bidurbhai’ making it to the big screen.

He reflected on how the project, which started as an entertaining YouTube series, has evolved into a feature film, and he noted the tremendous support they’ve received.
