Speaking about the failure of Kalank, Madhuri had told the media: "I have been in the industry for over than three decades. Good and bad times are a vital part of our work. Thus, it doesn't trouble me much when a film doesn't work. Everyone put forth a strong effort. Nobody goes to the sets to do a half-hearted job. But, at last, certain things aren't in our control. We have to move on. The film was received well overseas."
Govinda then featured in 2018's Rangeela Raja and FryDay, both of the film were non-starters in the box office. After Central Board of Film Certification, requested a few cuts in his 2018's film Rangeela Raja, Govinda had claimed that there was a group of individuals in the industry, who are plotting to not let his films release. CBFC reportedly refused to certify the film and had ordered for 20 cuts.
