Assam Born Shiladitya Bora's set in 1990s coming-of-age drama ‘Bhagwan Bharose’ wins Best Film award at the 25th UK Asian Film Festival.

GUWAHATI: Directed by debutant Assam-born Shiladitya Bora’s Bhagwan Bharose has bagged the award for the best film at the UK Asian Film Festival. The film stars Vinay Pathak, Satendra Soni, Sparsh Suman, Manu Rishi Chadha, Masumeh Makhija and Shrikant Verma etc.

Shiladitya Bora tweeted, "My first feature film as Director. My first award. This one is definitely special. ‘Bhagwan Bharose’ wins the BEST FILM at the 25th UK Asian Film Festival, London. Humbled and Hopeful #BhagwanBharoseTheFilm."

The movie is co-Produced by Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage along with Bora and Shilpi Agarwal of Platoon One Films, Milapsinh Jadeja and Sanyukta Gupta of Lighthouse Innoventures, and Sri Sathya Sai Arts' KK Radhamohan.

Meanwhile,Assam born Shiladitya Bora's 1990s coming-of-age drama 'Bhagwan Bharose' was based on a narrative by Sudhankar Neelmani. The plot centers around two children (Satendra Soni and Sparsh Suman) who are trying to comprehend god and religion in the 1990s.

Bhagwan Bharose was the 25th UK Asian picture Festival's closing picture, and the showing was the film's world debut.

Sudhakar Nilmani and Mohit Chauhan co-wrote it. Shiladitya Bora made his feature film debut in Deogarh, Jharkhand. Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage and Shiladitya's Platoon One Films co-produced the film.

Shiladitya, on the other hand, is the founder of Platoon One Films, and this festival selection follows their Marathi movie Ghaath's global premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival in February 2023.

Bora previously produced Picasso, which won a Special Mention at the 2020 National Film Awards and was Amazon Prime's first direct-to-stream Marathi acquisition, as well as Yours Truly, a drama starring Soni Razdan, Pankaj Tripathi, and Ahana Kumra that premiered at the Busan International Film Festival in 2018 and is now available on Zee5.
