MUMBAI: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much-anticipated film Gangubai Kathiawadi has released its trailer, and lead actress Alia Bhatt is simply stunning.
The story of Ganga Harjivandas, a humble girl from Kathiawad, is taken from Hussain Zaidi's novel Mafia Queens of Mumbai.
The Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer immerses us in the life of Alia Bhatt's Gangubai. The great narrative of SLB is set in the early 1960s and features the leading lady as the matriarch and proprietor of a brothel.
Ajay Devgn plays mafia don Karim Lala, a guy of notoriety and mythology who played a pivotal role in Gangubai's journey (for better or worse). Vijay Raaz, Jim Sarbh, and Seema Pahwa also star in the film.
Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada are producing the film (Pen Studios). On February 25, 2022, 'Gangubai Kathiawadi,' which will have its highly anticipated global premiere at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, will be released in theatres. Gangubai Kathiawadi will be distributed in all international territories outside of India by Viacom18 Studios and Paramount Pictures International.
Actress Neetu Kapoor was one of the first to compliment Alia after the Gangubai Kathiawadi teaser was released on Friday. She posted the trailer on Instagram Stories and captioned it, "Ufffff fantastic," with a starry-eyed and raised hands emoji, indicating that she is rooting for her.
Ranbir was sighted in the city on Friday following the trailer's release and was asked about his thoughts on the film. The actor merely lifted his folded hands in a Gangubai-style namaste.
