MUMBAI: In the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster film "OMG: Oh My God!", titled "OMG 2," Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar takes on the role of Lord Shiva's reincarnation. The film's teaser, featuring a stellar cast including Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, received an overwhelming response from the audience. However, a major obstacle now stands in the way of the movie's release as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has halted its certification and referred it to the review committee.

Reports suggest that the CBFC made this decision to avoid potential backlash, citing the controversy surrounding controversial dialogues in Om Raut's film "Adipurush" as a precedent. The board aims to ensure that they do not repeat the same mistake and, as a result, has refused certification for "OMG 2." Consequently, the Examining Committee has requested the producers to submit the film to the Revision Committee. Notably, the makers have not received a show-cause notice from the CBFC so far, creating uncertainty about the specific issues faced by the film regarding certification.

Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" also features Arun Govil, renowned for his iconic portrayal of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's "Ramayan," in a significant role. The film was initially slated to hit theaters on August 11, potentially clashing with the release of "Gadar 2," starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel.

The certification hurdle faced by "OMG 2" has left fans and industry insiders curious about the fate of the film. The question lingers: Will the review committee grant the necessary certification for the film's release? As the producers anxiously await further updates from the CBFC, the outcome remains uncertain. The clash with "Gadar 2" at the box office adds an additional layer of anticipation, as audiences eagerly await the release of these two highly anticipated films.

Although Akshay Kumar and director Amit Rai are yet to respond to the reports, a source stated, "there is no issue." The source added that the censor board process is still ongoing. According to the report, the Censor Board recommended submitting the film to the Revision Committee after a recent screening.

The recently released teaser of "OMG 2" confirmed Akshay Kumar's portrayal of Lord Shiva, with the actor sporting dreadlocks. While Akshay assumes the role of a god, Pankaj Tripathi takes on the role of a devoted follower in the film.
