Mumbai: Prominent actor Salim Ghouse passed away on April 28 in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest. The film and TV actor was 70 years old at the time of his death.
Salim Ghouse's wife Anita Salim confirmed her husband's demise and the last rites of the actor took place on the morning of April 28.
Anita informed the media that Salim was experiencing pain in his chest on the night of April 27 and she added that her husband eventually lost his wife due to a cardiac arrest on the morning of April 28.
"We took him to Kokilaben Hospital last night, and he passed away this morning. He hated grieving and wanted life to go on. He didn't suffer, he wouldn't have liked being dependent on anyone. He was a man with a lot of self-respect. He was a multifaceted actor, a martial artist, an actor, a director and a lovely chef in the kitchen," Salim's wife said.
Ghouse's acting career took off in 1978 with the movie Swarg Narak, following which he featured in films like Chakra (1981), Saaransh (1984), Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! (1984), and several others.
Salim played an eminent role in films like Manthan, Kalyug, Trikal, Aghaat, Drohi, Thiruda Thiruda, Sardari Begum, and Koyla, Soldier, Aks, and several others.
However, his popularity was not confined to only films and he was quite famous in the television industry. He essayed the roles of Rama, Krishna and Tipu Sultan in Shyam Benegal's TV Series Bharat Ek Khoj and was also a part of the sitcom Wagle Ki Duniya (1988).
He was a known face in the theatre circuit and had a few international projects under his belt including Kim, The Perfect Murder, The Deceivers, The Maharaja's Daughter and Getting Personal.
