Assam CM Extends Happy Birthday Greetings To Eminent Singer Papon

Fans and well-wishers have been sending the popular musician their good wishes in droves.

GUWAHATI: On Thursday, popular Bollywood and Assamese playback singer Papon received birthday wishes from Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in honour of his 47th birthday.

Fans and well-wishers have been sending the popular musician their good wishes in droves.

Angaraag Papon Mahanta, who was born on November 24 in 1975 to the famed singing duo of Khagen and Archana Mahanta from Assam, has carved out a place for himself in Bollywood thanks to his soulful voice. Papon has a long list of well-known songs to his credit, including Assamese and Hindi.

As the band's frontman and primary singer, Papon is skilled at playing a variety of instruments and singing in a variety of styles.

At the age of 13, Papon began his musical career with the Assamese song "Gaantu je gaai asila" from the album "Aamiu Gao Gaan." Dr. Lima Das and I sang the song together.

In 2004's Let's Enjoy, Papon made his Bollywood debut with the song "Sajana Bawre." But he finally received the credit he deserved in 2011 when he sang "Jiyein Kyun" for the movie Dum Maaro Dum.

Since then, he has amassed a sizable fan base and released a number of songs that have become hits and will live on in the hearts of his followers.

One of India's most gifted artists, Papon, also known as Angaraag Mahanta, was raised primarily in Assam. Early in his life, he was exposed to Indian classical music and a number of instruments, including the khol, tabla, guitar, and harmonium.

'The Story So Far', Papon's debut album in Hindi, was released in 2012; 'Jonaaki Raati', his debut album in Assamese, was released in 2004. In addition, the singer received the GIMA Award in 2012 for his debut album, "The Story So Far," and in 2015 for the best pop album of the year.
