New Delhi: The comedy show airing on Apple TV+, Ted Lasso, has been hitting the headlines after its first season received a total of 20 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations.
With this, the show made a record of having the highest nomination in Emmy Awards. This record was previously held by Glee after it received 18 nominations in 2010.
Ted Lasso is centred around its titular character who is a small-town American football coach hired to train a premium football club, AFC Richmond, in the United Kingdom. He is hired by Rebecca Welton, who is the club's new owner. Rebecca's sole purpose in hiring Ted was to get the football club to fail.
Rebecca was a divorcee and was well aware of her ex-husband's interest in the football club. Therefore, she decided to wreck the team only to get back at her ex-husband.
However, the well-intentioned efforts of Ted soon slowly change her mind.
The first two seasons of the show, Ted Lasso, is currently only streaming on the Apple TV+ app. A seven-day trial is offered by the app, after which the viewer will have to pay a subscription fee of $4.99 dollars per month. The subscription can be cancelled at any moment as per the wish of the user.
The first season of Ted Lasso premiered in August 2020 and included 10 episodes. The first three episodes were aired on August 14, 2020, and the rest were aired on a weekly basis.
The second season of the comedy show premiered on July 23, 2020, with 12 episodes.
The show was also renewed for a third season in October 2020. However, nothing has been said about its release.
