NEW DELHI: For the first time, the 52nd International Film Festival of India, which will take place in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2021, will include five major OTT firms.
Special Masterclasses, content launches and previews, curated film package screenings, and other on-ground and virtual interactions will be held by Netflix, Amazon Prime, Zee5, Voot, and SonyLIV during the Film Festival.
The ministry of information and broadcasting stated in a statement that "these huge Media apps are pouring out a range of episodes and movies each year in an effort to improve the quality and generate fresh content." A three-day virtual Masterclass with Gobelins – School L'image, a renowned scenography school, is being hosted by Netflix.
Netflix will also screen Jane Campion's historical drama 'The Power of the Dog,' starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Kirsten Dunst, in India for the first time. A special screening of the film 'Dhamaka,' with an introduction by actor Kartik Aaryan, will also be shown on Netflix. Additionally, at this year's IFFI, Netflix will show a sneak preview of Episode 1 of 'Aranyak,' an upcoming crime thriller series starring Raveena Tandon and Ashutosh Rana.
A Masterclass with the screenwriters of Scam-1992, Sumit Purohit and Saurav Dey, headed by Indranil Chakraborty, Business Head Studio Next, has been proposed by another OTT service, SonyLIV. LIV's Head of Original Content, Saugato, will be the host.
Prashant Nair, Ashish Golwalkar, and Amogh Dusad's online series Tryst with Destiny will also be shown on SonyLIV. Break statement, Nitesh Tiwari & Ashwini Iyer's renowned Paes & Bhupathi series, will be specifically curated by Zee5 for IFFI. Nitish Tiwari, Scriptwriter & Director of Dangal & Breakpoint, Akarsh Khurana, Director of Rashmi Rocket, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Director of Bhag Milkha Bhag, and Omung Kumar, Director of Mary Kom will participate in a Directors' Round Table titled 'Championing the Game' on Zee5. Zee5 will also present and unveil one of the most awaited initiatives, 'Zee Katha Caravan,' which will provide a forum for today's and tomorrow's authors to express their most heartfelt stories.
OTT platforms with a diverse range of genres have sprung up in India, and these platforms are mesmerising audiences almost all over the world.According to the statement, the 52nd edition of IFFI will be conducted in a hybrid format, which is a reference to latest tech and provides a platform for artists to cooperate and connect with these OTT players.
