Australian actress and comedian Rebel Wilson hosted the 75th award ceremony of the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) on Monday 14 March at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The award ceremony is organized after a long 2 years of gap due to the global covid pandemic that restricts almost all grand events.
Though it was held after such a delay the host ended up receiving much criticism from viewers who were unable to laugh at her jokes rather made them groan.
42 years old Rebel Wilson in the award function tried hard with her comedy to impress the audience but it didn't work even after a series of jokes.
The host later teams up with English actress and activist Emma Watson in attacking the author and philanthropist JK Rowling.
She mentioned her own dramatic weight loss to attack the author of Harry Potter who faced numerous assaults of transphobia after her argument on biological sex as real.
There were numerous offbeat moments including Daniel Craig's leg tattoo and a cake of Benedict Cumberbatch's face. The jokes even led many to switch off the TV screen on Monday night.
The hosting by Wilson has compared to Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood's 1989 Brit Awards musical performance until now regarded as the worst host of the television award show history.
Most of the jokes by the Australian star fell flat including one regarding the roller-skating musical starring Prince Andrew known as the Pizza Express.
This performance by Wilson in the British Academy Film Awards this year was regarded as the worst performance in British TV history.
However, she has received some applause for showing her middle finger to the Russian President Vladimir Putin who is bussing in the invasion of Ukraine.
