LOS ANGELES: Actor Lance Reddick passed away at the age of 60. He was well-known for his work on The Wire and the John Wick series.
His representative reportedly told numerous media sites that he passed away at his Los Angeles home from natural causes. For his part in John Wick: Chapter 4, which will be released next week, the actor recently participated in interviews.
He decided not to go to the movie's New York premiere earlier this week. Cedric Daniels, a Baltimore police lieutenant, was Reddick's most well-known character in HBO's popular crime drama The Wire.
Initially, he tried out for the parts of Bunk Moreland and Bubbles. At a time when television was predominately white, it was unusual for a prestige program to have a cast that was primarily black.
Reddick told the Guardian, "I didn't realize it wasn't the standard experience until I came off The Wire." Looking back, I realise that was pretty exceptional."
He described it as "an iconic piece of history" and said that he felt "extremely lucky and pleased of the work we achieved" in an interview from 2019. In addition to Fringe, Oz, Lost, and Bosch were among Reddick's other notable TV appearances.
Prior to his passing, he also shot the scene for Zeus in the upcoming Percy Jackson television adaptation. On the big screen, Reddick has been in White House Down, Sylvie's Love, Brother to Brother, and the wildly successful John Wick series, among other films.
Moreover, he will appear in the upcoming "White Guys Can't Jump" remake. David Simon, the creator of The Wire, issued a statement to the Hollywood Reporter expressing his sorrow.
"A perfect professional, a loyal teammate, a great soul, and a friend. For all of us who knew and loved him, this is just gut-wrenching and far too soon to consider. “
