MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has requested a two-week extension from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding his involvement in the Mahadev online betting app case. The ED had summoned him in connection with an online lottery investigation case, with the initial appearance date set for October 6.

The ED has been conducting a thorough investigation into the Mahadev online betting app and its alleged involvement in money laundering. In a series of extensive raids carried out in cities such as Kolkata, Bhopal, and Mumbai, the agency successfully seized a staggering sum of Rs 417 crore, which they believe is linked to illegal activities associated with the app.

According to the ED, their recent actions are part of a broader crackdown on money laundering networks associated with the Mahadev app. During the raids, a substantial volume of incriminating evidence was unearthed, and assets connected to the proceeds of crime were either frozen or confiscated, totaling Rs 417 crore.

The investigative agency has revealed that their probe into the matter has identified Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal as the main promoters of Mahadev Online Book. They have been allegedly operating the app from Dubai, which has raised significant concerns about the app's operations and its potential involvement in unlawful activities.

Ranbir Kapoor's involvement in this case has garnered considerable attention in the media and among the public. The actor, known for his prominent roles in the Indian film industry, was among those summoned by the ED to provide information related to the Mahadev app's activities and its potential connections to money laundering.

With the ED's relentless efforts to unravel the intricate web of financial irregularities surrounding the Mahadev app, the Bollywood actor's request for a two-week delay in his appearance indicates the complexity of the case and the need for additional time to prepare and gather information.

This high-profile investigation has not only highlighted the challenges of regulating online betting and gambling platforms in India but has also underscored the importance of ensuring transparency and compliance with the law in the rapidly growing digital gaming industry.

As Ranbir Kapoor seeks more time to address the ED's queries, the nation awaits further developments in this case. The outcome of this investigation could have far-reaching implications for the regulation of online betting and gambling apps in India and may serve as a precedent for future cases involving similar platforms.
